Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu Game Reserve
You will be picked up from the airport and given a brief safari introduction before driving north from Nairobi. On the way, you will cross the Equator and pass the striking Mount Kenya before reaching the open plains of Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at your lodge or camp. After a short rest, head out for an evening game drive where you can see elephants, lions, leopards, hippos, reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, and crocodiles along the Ewaso Nyiro River. The reserve is also home to over 365 bird species. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Full Day in Samburu Game Reserve
Spend the day with morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu. The area is known for its unique semi-arid wildlife, including the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, and the blue-necked Somali Ostrich, which are rarely seen elsewhere. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Samburu – Sweetwaters (Ol Pejeta Conservancy)
After an early breakfast and a short morning game drive, leave Samburu for Sweetwaters at Ol Pejeta. Arrive in the afternoon and check in at your lodge, then go for an evening game drive. Sweetwaters is home to the Big Five lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo as well as giraffes, zebras, elands, oryx, waterbucks, Grant’s gazelles, cheetahs, baboons, and hundreds of bird species. Optional activities include walking safaris, night drives, and a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Sweetwaters – Aberdares National Park
After breakfast, enjoy morning activities at Sweetwaters such as game drives or a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary. Later, drive to the Aberdare Mountains, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to The Ark, a lodge with multiple viewing decks and lounges where animals come close to the lodge, offering a unique way to watch wildlife without leaving comfort. Spend the evening relaxing, have dinner, and stay overnight at The Ark.
Day 5: Aberdares – Nairobi
After breakfast, start the drive back to Nairobi, stopping along the way for a short game viewing. Continue to the city, arriving in the early evening, and be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
