Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
You will be picked up from the airport and given a brief safari orientation before driving north from Nairobi, crossing the Equator and passing the scenic Mount Kenya. Continue to the open plains of Samburu Game Reserve, arriving in time for lunch and check-in at your lodge or camp. After a short rest, head out on an evening game drive where you can see elephants, lions, leopards, hippos, reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, and crocodiles along the Ewaso Nyiro River. The reserve is also home to over 365 species of birds. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Samburu – Lake Nakuru National Park
Wake up early for a morning game drive in Samburu, then drive south toward Lake Nakuru. On the way, pause to admire the beautiful Thomson Falls. Arrive at Lake Nakuru in the evening, check in at your lodge or hotel, and enjoy dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, take a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, famously known as the “Pink Lake” or a birdwatcher’s paradise. Large flocks of flamingos gather along the shores, along with a variety of other birds, and the park is home to white rhinos and other wildlife. Afterward, drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve, stopping for lunch on the way. Arrive at your camp or lodge in the evening, and if time allows, go out for a short evening game drive. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve
Spend the day enjoying game drives in the Mara, with a picnic lunch by the Mara River near the hippo pools. Witness wildlife in action, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas, and various antelopes. Depending on the season, you may also see wildebeest crossing the river. Over 480 bird species have been recorded in the reserve. Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Masai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast, check out of your lodge or camp and begin the drive back to Nairobi. Arrive in the city in the late afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your onward flight.
