Overview

Amboseli National Park, about 160 miles from Nairobi, is famous for its large elephant herds set against the stunning backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. The park is also home to lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, impalas, and other antelopes.

The park is a haven for bird lovers, with over 400 species recorded, including the Madagascar Pond-Heron, Lesser Flamingo, Lesser Kestrel, and the rare Shoebill, along with more than 40 birds of prey.

Tsavo West is known for its incredible wildlife viewing, including elephants, rhinos, hippos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and buffalos. Visitors can enjoy attractions like Mzima Springs, lava flows, caves, and dramatic cliffs that are popular for rock climbing.

Tsavo East features wide-open savannahs and expansive landscapes where large elephant herds, lions, cheetahs, leopards, and other wildlife roam freely, making it an excellent place to experience untamed Kenyan wilderness.

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport and driven to Amboseli National Park, passing through the heart of Maasai country. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at your camp or lodge. In the late afternoon, head out on a game drive where you can see elephants, lions, cheetahs, and other animals roaming the plains. The backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro makes for stunning wildlife photographs. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli National Park

Wake up early to enjoy the first light over Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. After breakfast, spend the day moving around the park, spotting wildlife across its open plains. A picnic lunch will be provided inside the park. There is an option to visit a nearby Maasai village where the local warriors will sing, dance, and show you their homes, giving you a glimpse into their daily life and a chance for photos. Return to your camp or lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 3: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park

Begin the day with an early morning game drive before breakfast, then drive toward Tsavo West National Park. On the way, you will see the Shetani Lava Flow and stop at Mzima Springs to watch hippos, fish, and crocodiles from the underwater viewing area. Arrive at your lodge for lunch and a short rest, then visit the Rhino Sanctuary where you may spot elephants, giraffes, rhinos, and various birds. Enjoy the scenic surroundings before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park

After breakfast, drive toward Tsavo East National Park, stopping for game viewing along the way. Check in at your lodge and have lunch before heading out on an evening game drive. Tsavo East is known for its large herds of elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, buffaloes, and impalas, as well as a variety of birds. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Tsavo East – Nairobi

Start the day with an early breakfast and a final game drive on your way out of the park. After checking out, begin the drive back to Nairobi with a stop for lunch along the way. Arrive in the early evening and be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
